Some of you may have experienced “Unmountable Boot Volume” blue screen error message when Windows XP first start up. The error occurs usually because windows did not shut down properly.
To resolve the problem you simply need to run scandisk or chkdsk command. But since windows unable to load properly, you will need another computer and connect the HDD as a slave or you can use BartPE - Windows XP Live on CD.
After you got BartPE up and running, open Command Prompt and type chkdsk c: /r. That command will check the C drive and also fix errors and locate bad sectors.
